CHOIR DIRECTOR INTRODUCTION

My full name is Kiberu Samuel Straxy, I started singing when I was young at my grandmother’s place, I started singing in church Sunday school as a soloist and did some few compositions, I then started trying to learn keyboard at church which I later mastered little by little being trained by David Mbuga (newly wedded), I also had a passion of acting so I did it still at church Sunday school until when I was taken up by Moses to father me and support me, so I got closer to David as my uncle (what I refered him as), Moses as a father and Hopkins as a new mother, later on my grannie died, so Moses took me up as part of his family, I went on with my talents and one time there were cocacola Popstars competitions in which I participated with almost 2000 other competeters, I did not win, but I was one of the finalists, the last 15, but anyhow, it gave me a picture that God had supported me, just like Don and Jennie Windhams who sent me a vocal training cd. Anyway, the most interesting time was when, the Windhams decided to sponsor me, it was a great day, all along Moses had done his best to support me, so the Windhams were like stretching their bridge hope towards me, I managed to join university doing my dream course Information Technology, which I never thought I would do and I had given up on it because its tuition is no easy to get. Sponsorship has opened hope towards me and I can now see that I am living in what I never dreamt I would be seeing, it has also created in me a heart of love towards people I feel a debt to also help out someone someday when I can, I pray that God helps me do the same just as the sponsors have done to me. Through the Windhams, I have been opportuned to me joined great awesome people of ICN such as Bob and Barb Reagan, Tim Holland, Lynne and lots of them who too have been a bessing to me, like Bob who bought me a laptop for my studies in IT. God bless them all and the Windhams together with ICN in general. I dream of doing a lot in IT, also singing majorly for God around the world as a testimony, and also acting. What I am is a testimony that Jesus loves more than I can realize.

Esther has worked with the African Children’s Choir as a trainer and even trained the kids on their tours around the world, same with James who has trained the same choir too an lots of children’s choirs in different churches part time, he is a good harmony trainer for kids.

The Choir is apparently so great considering how it all started like, they sing so well the children are fast learners and they are singing so sweetly. One most interesting thing I have noticed is the fact that the kids in choir are a family. They love each other so much, that you can notice it even outside practice, they all put their different cultures apart and all got to unite, which is part of why they are doing well. They have also moved to lots of churches singing and people have loved them, all we hope is them travel around the country and world as ambasodors of hope for the rest of the children around the world, just like their name that we use here “MATSIKO CHILDREN’S HARMONY”, “Matsiko” means hope in one of our local languages called “Lunyankole”, so hope is to spread lots of the children through these young ambassadors.

Additionally, their togetherness will keep on until they grow up and they will always support each other because they have grown up together as one family; imagine having a need and you have all these lots of brothers and sisters to help you out, wouldn’t it be good? I know it is what will happen when these kids grow and it will bring pride to all sponsors after seeing the fruits of their great sweat.

Currently, the number one need for the choir is a home for them live in. If they are to keep their togetherness as one family, they need to stay together and get to learn each other more than they do apparently, this too would help us to monitor their character more close than we can now. Additionally, their trainings will have gotten easier at a reduced cost. Otherwise, on the other hand we are so glad that they have been supported in some areas, for instance their uniforms are in the make apparently and will soon be out and also they are soon recording an album, God bless all the sponsors and ICN for the great work.
